Molar Concentration Converters: mol/L to pmol/L

Molar concentration tells you how many moles of a substance are dissolved in one liter. Common units are mol/L (also written M), mmol/L, µmol/L, nmol/L and pmol/L, and each is a power of ten away from the next, so converting only means multiplying or dividing by 1,000 for every step. From mol/L (mole per liter)

From mmol/L (millimole per liter)

From µmol/L (micromole per liter)

From nmol/L (nanomole per liter)

From pmol/L (picomole per liter)

How These Conversions Work

To move to a smaller unit, multiply by 1,000 for each step down the list: mol/L, mmol/L, µmol/L, nmol/L, pmol/L. To move to a larger unit, divide by 1,000 for each step. For example, 5 mmol/L = 5,000 µmol/L, and 2,500 nmol/L = 2.5 µmol/L.
